Brody Welte, supermodel Marissa Miller’s trainer and owner of Stand Up Fitness, gives you some basic exercises to work your entire body,your legs, core, and shoulders to prepare you for some serious SUP time and get you in shape for the paddle boarding season.

According to Shape magazine, stand up paddle boarding burns 500 to 700 calories an hour. In their article titled “Extreme Fitness Workout: How Many Calories Did You Burn?”, they list different sports and the calories they burn per hour.

Paddle Boarding- 500 to 700
Snowboarding- about 500
Rock Climbing- about 550
Whitewater Rafting- 300 to 350
Mountain Biking- 500 to 600
Scuba Diving- about 900
Surfing- 200

I don’t know where they get their figures from, but 200 for surfing and 900 for scuba diving, just doesn’t sound right. Let us know what you think in the comments.
